The objectives of Sentinel Next Generation land ocean optical imaging architecture study are the following:To analyse user requirements for Copernicus future operational services and products based on land ocean optical imaging, based in particular on EC studies and workshops on Copernicus NG user requirements. Based on that the corresponding high level mission and observation requirements shall be derived. This serves a s staring point to define and trade-off possible architectures for the space component for the Sentinel Next Generation land ocean optical imaging family, assessing in particular the feasibility and the pros and cons of combining several optical payload on the same platform, and the seamless integration of candidate Sentinel Expansion optical imaging missions (i.e. HR LST and hyperspectral) with Sentinel NG land ocean optical imaging family (i.e. S2NG and S3opticalNG). Potential needs for early technology developments in preparation for Sentinel NG land ocean optical imaging missions shall be identified as wellas potential synergies with other optical imaging missions from other space agencies (in Europe and worldwide) and from commercial companies (e.g. Newspace).
