Bilateral meeting for PRODEX and Science Industry Day

On 3 October 2019, the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) organised the event "ESA-Romania PRODEX Bilateral and Science Industry Day", dedicated to discussing the status of the PRODEX scientific support programme and meeting with the business environment. The event was hosted by the Institute of Space Science (ISS).

The ESA delegation included: Michel Lazerges and Marline Claessens — PRODEX Head of Office and deputy, respectively, Frederic Safa — Head of Future Missions Department, Rolf de Groot — Science Coordination Office and Marcos Bavdaz — Responsible for the Science Technology Preparation activities.

During the first part of the meeting, the ESA delegation and the Romanian delegation, led by Dr. Phys. Marius-Ioan Piso, President of the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA), discussed current and future projects within PRODEX, as well as strategic views and Romania’s role in the programme.

The second part of the event was also open to industry, the participants being able to find out more details about future science missions and opportunities for collaboration.

During the event there were also bilateral meetings between industry representatives and the ESA delegation.

PRODEX (PROgramme de Développement d'EXpériences scientifiques) is an optional scientific programme established to provide funding for the industrial development of scientific instruments or experiments proposed by institutes or universities, which have been selected by ESA for one of its programmes in the various fields of space research.

These scientific instruments or experiments are defined to be either hardware or software projects, the development of which shall be carried out in collaboration with the industry of the Participating States such as to help to improve relations between scientific and industrial circles.
