Established in 1958, NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) is the agency responsible for the public space program of the United States of America and the civil and military long term aerospace research. NASA operates on four directions:

The President of the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) and the Romanian Prime Minister signed in May 2000 a collaboration agreement with NASA, after which there were carried out projects in telemedicine, agriculture and microgravity experiments on the International Space Station.
