The Advisory Council for Aeronautics Research in Europe - ACARE was created to help the implementation of the Strategic Research Agenda, which sets out the vision for the aeronautics research domain until 2020.

ACARE was founded at Paris Air Show in June 2001 and attracted over 40 member organizations and associations, including representatives of the Member States, of the European Commission and of the various groups of influence: aeronautics, aviation companies, airports, regulatory entities, research institutes etc.. Thus, since that time, the European support for aeronautics research was gradually restructured and aligned with ACARE goals, which led to the funding of hundreds of coherent research projects, which have key roles in the development of the European top knowledge.

The National Institute of Aerospace Research and Development "Elie Carafoli" (INCAS) is representing Romania at ACARE, through the General Director, Catalin Nae.
